Tuesday and Thursday will be on the B-Schedule. Wednesday and Friday will be on the A-Schedule.
On Tuesday at 6pm we will host the 8th grade Awards night.
School Site Council (SSC) will meet on Wednesday at 3:45 pm via zoom. Click here to join this meeting.
Please join us on Thursday at 6 pm in the Auditorium for Peary Music Program’s Spring Concert Event with performances from Peary’s Band, Choir and a special Visual Arts presentation.
On Friday, all 8th grade students will return their History Textbook, Chromebook and charger.
The 8th Grade Spring Dance will also be held on Friday, on campus, from 3:30-6:00 pm.

Hello Peary Family,

Our Word of the Week (WOW) is APPRECIATION: the recognition and enjoyment of the good qualities of someone or something. Being told you're appreciated is one of the simplest and most uplifting things you can hear.
May is Asian and Pacific Islander American Heritage Month.
This week is Classified School Employee Appreciation Week. To the team of individuals who keep our school running including educator assistants, custodial staff, campus supervision, cafeteria workers, office staff and all other classified employees, we say, Thank You, for all that you do!
Monday, Wednesday and Friday will be on the A-Schedule. Tuesday and Thursday will be on the B-Schedule.
Students will take the Math SBAC test this week. Please encourage your child to get a good night's sleep, eat something for breakfast, bring a fully charged device, and arrive at school before 8:00 AM to ensure they can give their absolute best effort!
The 8th Grade Gardena Bowling event will take place on Tuesday, 2:30-5:00 pm.
Region South will be hosting a Summer of Learning Webinar on Tuesday from 4:00pm - 5:30pm for families to learn about all of the many options available for students during the summer. Click here to join this meeting or the link can also be found on the Peary Website.
English Language Advisory Council (ELAC) will meet on Wednesday at 9 am in the Parent Center.
Shared Decision-Making Committee (SDMC) will meet via Zoom on Thursday at 3:30pm. A link to join this meeting can be found on the Peary Website.

Hello Peary Family,

Our Word of the Week (WOW) is INITIATIVE: taking action; originating new ideas. Initiative is about taking the first step, even when you don't see the whole staircase. - Martin Luther King Jr
This week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday will be on the B-Schedule. Tuesday and Thursday will be on the A-Schedule.
Monday is Tie Day. Students and staff are encouraged to wear a tie or bow tie in support of anti-bullying and a drama-free school environment.
After school tutoring and homework help will be on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:15-4:15 pm.
We will conduct an emergency drill on Thursday during period 1.
The College Bound Program will meet on Thursday from 3:15 pm - 5:45 pm.
There will be a GATE Parent Meeting on Thursday at 3:30 pm.
Please join us at Peary on Thursday from 4 pm to 6 pm for our Open House Family Fun Night Event. Students will showcase their work and accompilshments with family and guests. There will also be games, activities, and prizes for everyone.
We will hold an 8th grade presentation on Thursday at 6:00 pm in Stephan Hall where you can get answers to your questions regarding culmination, class dues, and 8th grade activities.
On Friday, school will dismiss at 1:00 pm. Happy Cinco de Mayo!
Saturday, 8:00am- 12:20pm, will be the last session of Saturday School for the Spring Semester.
Saturday is also the 167th birthday of our schools namesake Robert E. Peary. He is known for leading the first expedition to the North Pole and for his famous statement; I will find a way, or make one.

Please join us in the Peary Gym on Thursday evening, April 20 at 5:30 pm for the Anti-4/20 Community Event called Healthy Living Palooza. This event is sponsored by the City of Gardena and aims to promote drug-free living habits for our youth. Community agencies will be there to connect with families and provide information on the effects of marijuana usage, prevention and intervention. Please enter the campus near the Gym on 162nd Street for this event. We look forward to seeing you at Peary on Thursday evening.

8th grade students will take their panorama picture on Monday morning. Students must be on time and wear a white or blue collared shirt for the group photo.
Monday is also Tie Day to symbolize professionalism, positivity, unity, and respect in support of anti-bullying and a drama-free school environment. Students and staff are encouraged to wear a tie or bow tie to support this effort.

All students received their report cards today. Please review your child's progress and consider their enrollment in one or all of our intervention programs.
School will be closed on Friday to observe the birthday of labor leader and civil rights activist Cesar Chavez.
Peary will be open on Monday and Tuesday for Spring Acceleration Days form 8:00 am - 3:00 pm. There is still time to register your child through parent portal, click here or return the paper application to the Main Office today.
School will resume on Monday, April 10 when the 8th grade students will take their Panorama Picture.

Monday is the beginning of Quarter 4 classes. When students enter the campus, they should find their name and 1st period room number on the scheduling board. Student programs will be distributed during period 1.
We will conduct an Emergency drill on Wednesday during period 4.
A Parent Workshop on Family Violence Prevention will take place on Wednesday at 9:00 am in the Parent Center.

Hello Peary Family,

We are excited to welcome your child back to school tomorrow!

Friday is a minimum day and school will dismiss at 1:00 pm

Saturday School will resume on Saturday at 8:00 am.

All are invited to a Meet and Greet with the New Local Superintendent Dr. Spicer on Saturday at 10 am at Gardena High School followed by The Gardena Community Health Faire until 2 pm.

Hello Peary Family,

This week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday will be on the A-Schedule. Tuesday and Thursday will be on the B-Schedule.
Please join us for another Virtual Coffee With the Principal on Monday at 6:00 pm to discuss the latest information regarding the possible Work Stoppage.
A Parent Workshop on How to Talk to your Child about Drugs and Alcohol will take place on Wednesday at 9:00 am in the Parent Center.
8th grade students will take their panorama picture on Wednesday after lunch.
Friday is a Minimum Day and school will dismiss at 1:00 pm.
Friday is also the last day of Quarter 3 and the 10-week progress reporting period. Report cards will be distributed next week.
After school tutoring and homework help is at 3:15 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Saturday School will resume this Saturday, 8 am – 12:20 pm.
Have you signed your child up for Spring Acceleration Days yet? Please log into your parent portal or complete a paper application and return it to our Main Office before Friday.
The College Bound Program will meet every Thursday from 3:15 pm - 5:45 pm starting on Thursday, March 30. Students should return their application to Ms. Santos in the main office by Monday to be considered for the program.

Due to the rain, the 8th grade panorama picture has been postponed. We will let everyone know once a new date has been confirmed.
Peary’s Talent Show will now take place on Friday during lunch.
A Parent Workshop on Substance Use Awareness will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 am in the Parent Center.

All students and staff should take a Rapid COVID Test before returning to school this week. Only positive test results need to be uploaded to the daily pass.
This week, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday will be on the A-Schedule. Tuesday and Thursday will be on the B-Schedule.
Monday is the start of a new semester and students’ classes may have changed. Students will find their name and first period on the grade level posters on campus. Full schedules will be distributed in their 1st class.
We will conduct a Fire Drill on Friday at 9:00am.
We invite all to join us at Gardena's Martin Luther King Parade and Celebration on Saturday morning. The Parade will begin at 10:00am.
Did your child complete assignments to improve their Fall 2022 grades? If so, please have your student complete the Grade Change Request Form. Completing this form will not guarantee a grade change. Teachers will evaluate student work submitted, based on the instructions and criteria given, and determine if a change in a student's grade is appropriate.
After-school and Saturday academic support will begin soon. If you have not done so already, register your child for after-school and/or Saturday sessions. Applications are available in the Main Office.

Please note that the LAUSD 2022-23 academic calendar has been changed. Wednesday, October 19 is now a required regular school day for students and school personnel. December 7, March 15 and April 19 are also now, required school days. The school year for students will now end on June 9, 2023. Please visit achieve.lausd.net/calendar for more information.
Peary Middle School will participate in an earthquake drill on Thursday, October 20, during 2nd period. This drill, called The Great California Shake-Out, involves almost every school in California as well as businesses, organizations and families. This is an opportunity for Peary to practice what we should do during and after an earthquake. Please note that throughout the duration of the drill, parents will not be able to pick up or drop off students.
Parents can also participate in the Shake-Out by discussing earthquake preparedness and planning your own drill with your family. More information is available at www.ShakeOut.org.
Lastly, please save the date October 27 from 5pm to 7 pm for our Parent Conference event.

Monday is Tie Day to symbolize professionalism, positivity, unity, and respect in support of anti-bullying and a drama-free school environment. Students and staff are encouraged to wear a tie or bow tie to support this effort.

The School Site Council (SSC) is a caring group of parents, students, staff, and teachers who are dedicated to improving the educational program at Peary Middle School. Week of August 29, 2022 - Update

Hello Peary Family,

Thursday is Peary’s Back-To-School Night. At 4:00 pm, there will be a GATE parent meeting in Stephan Hall, followed by an 8th grade meeting at 4:30 pm.
The Back-To-School event will take place from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Students and families will have the opportunity to visit their child’s teachers and learn more about the educational program at Peary Middle School. Masks are not required, but highly recommended while inside buildings and classrooms.
Also remember that school will be closed on Friday and Monday in observance of Admissions and Labor Day.
School will resume on Tuesday, September 6 at 7:50 am.
Lastly, Picture day is next week on September 8th. Students are to wear a dark blue or white uniform shirt for their photo on picture day.

If you have not done so already, be sure each student and staff has taken a baseline Rapid COVID Test. Only a positive result should be uploaded to the daily pass.
Students may enter campus starting at 7:30 am using the gate on 162nd street near the gym or on Gardena Boulevard between A & B buildings. Students may exit either of these gates. Please coordinate pick up and drop off locations with your child.
Due to safety precautions, parents will not be allowed to enter campus unless to conduct business in the Main, Attendance, or Counseling office.
Once students enter the campus, they should find their name and first period class on the grade level posters.

Our Word of the Week (WOW) is FRIENDSHIP: Caring for and trusting one another. Good friends are like stars; you don’t always see them, but you know they are there.
Monday is Tie Day! Students and staff are encouraged to wear a tie or bow tie to support this effort.
7th grade students should bring their outstanding textbooks on Monday.
6th grade students should bring their outstanding textbooks on Wednesday.
8th grade Certificate, Gown and Culmination Ticket distribution will be held on Wednesday during period 4. Parents may pick up their child's gown and culmination tickets with ID on Wednesday between 3 and 5 pm.
Monday and Wednesday are regular school days this week with dismissal at 3:00 pm.
On Tuesday, school will dismiss at 1:20 pm.
8th Grade Culmination is on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 9 am.
On Thursday and Friday, school will dismiss at 1:00 pm.
Friday is the last day of the 2021-2022 school year. Final Report Cards will be mailed home.

This is our last week of SBAC Testing. Each day this week, from 8:00 am until 9:45 am, students will be able to complete their math assessment. Please have your child at school before 8:00 so that all students can experience a positive testing environment. Students who miss the testing session will participate in make-up testing on Fridays or during the first week of June. Students are encouraged to get a good night's sleep, eat something for breakfast, have a fully charged device, and arrive before 8:00 AM to ensure they can give their absolute best effort!
On Tuesday, and every Tuesday, school will dismiss at 1:20 pm.

Monday is the start of a new quarter and students’ classes have changed. Students will find their name and first period on the grade level posters on campus. Full schedules will be distributed in 1st period classes.
A COVID Vaccination Clinic will be Monday from 3:30 – 6:30 pm in the GYM. All eligible family members may receive their vaccination or booster shots at this community based clinic. Appointments are not necessary.

For those who are not attending Saturday School, we invite you to join us at Gardena's Martin Luther King Parade and Celebration on Saturday morning. The Parade will begin at 10:00am. However, students and families can join Peary in the parade line up if they arrive by 8:00 am.

Update to This Week at Peary

Hello Peary Family,

Happy Veterans Day! School will be closed on Thursday, November 11 in honor of the many men and women who ultimately sacrificed to defend our country.
Friday is a regular school day. Let's keep up our attendance and improve our chances to win the November Attendance Challenge.
Has your child age 12 and above been vaccinated? Well, they can get vaccinated at Peary Middle School on November 19th, 2021 from 12:00 to 7:00pm. The first 100 students who receive the vaccination or upload their vaccination card will receive a gift card for groceries. Food from the food truck will be provided and there will be plenty of music. Consent forms and healthcare questionnaire will be sent home.Walk-ins wil be welcomed but to avoid waiting in line, go to LAUSD daily pass and schedule your child’s vaccination appointment for Friday, November 19, 2021 at Peary Middle School.
Tutoring will continue on Saturday from 8:00 am - 12:20 pm. Students should enter the main gate with their mask, computer, and daily pass.

Thank you for participating in the Fall Parent Conference Event. Please continue to use the Parent Teacher Conference page, under the parent tab on the Peary Schooloop Website, to coordinate a meeting with your child’s teachers.
Friday is a minimum day and school will dismiss at 1:00 pm.
On Saturday (11/6) morning, there are a few events happening;

  - Students participating in Saturday School should bring their device, mask, daily pass and enter campus at the Main Gate off Gardena Boulevard.

Monday is Tie Day to symbolize professionalism, positivity, unity, and respect in support of anti-bullying and a drama-free school environment. Students and staff are encouraged to wear a tie or bow tie to support this effort.
All are invited to join the Gardena Community of Schools Townhall Meeting on Monday at 4:30 pm using the Zoom ID: 862 8047 1398.
On Tuesday, and every Tuesday, school will dismiss at 1:20 pm.
Peary’s Parent Conference Event is taking place on Tuesday and Thursday of this week. Parents can schedule a 10-minute virtual meeting with each of their child’s teachers by visiting the Parent Conference Page of the Peary School Loop Website. On campus COVID Testing at Peary will take place on Wednesday this week.
Friday is a minimum school day and we will dismiss at 1:00 pm.

This Weekend Update

Hello Peary Family,

COVID Vaccination on Campus TODAY!

Peary Middle School is hosting a vaccination event today. If your child has not been vaccinated and you want your child to be vaccinated, please come up to the school as soon as possible today before 7pm and your child will be vaccinated with your consent and get a free meal from the food truck. If your child is already vaccinated, please upload the vaccination card into the parent portal. If you do not know how to upload the vaccination card, we will have a drive at the school next week Saturday, Nov. 6th. Be on the look out for more information.

Saturday Academy 8am-12:20 pm

Saturday Academy tutoring will begin tomorrow! Classes begin at 8am and end at 12:20pm with two hours of math, two hours of English and a 20-minute break in between. Students participating in Saturday School should bring their device and enter campus at the Main Gate off Gardena Boulevard.

English Learner Parent Meeting 9:30-10:30 am

English Learning parents should enter the Main Gate on Saturday between 9:30 am-10:30am for the Reclassification Meeting

Peary Garden Clean-Up 9:30-12:30 pm

All are welcome to join us in brining the Peary Garden back to life.

The “All Are Welcome Here” event will take place on Monday during lunch.

Friday is College Spirit Day - Staff & Students are encouraged to wear a College T-Shirt, Jersey, or Sweater and bring their lunch to the amphitheater to join the celebration.

Fall Mester 1 will end this week. Final grades will be mailed home next week. Students will be able to see their Mester 2 courses in Schoology this weekend.

Wednesday COVID testing at Peary Middle School was canceled for this week. However, students who have a negative COVID test result on or after Wednesday, September 1, 2021 should be able to retrieve their dailypass until on-campus testing resumes next week.

Week of August 23, 2021

Hello Peary Family,

Congratulations on completing the first week of school. Our Word of the Week (WOW) is SELF-DISCIPLINE: the ability to choose and control one's own actions. Once a task has begun, never quit until it's done. Be the labor great or small, do it well and do it all.
On Tuesday, and every Tuesday, school will dismiss at 1:20 pm.
On Campus COVID Testing will take place on Wednesday 8:00 am – 2:30 pm. Students who attended school last Wednesday but did not complete a COVID test will be allowed on campus this week and be given testing priority for this Wednesday’s testing session.
Students and staff are required to wear a mask that covers their mouth and nose; except when eating, sanitize hands before leaving a classroom and maintain appropriate social distance with others on campus.
Picture Day and Open House will take place in about weeks, on September 1. Students will need a white or navy-blue polo-style shirt for their portrait. Log on to the Peary Website for information on photo packages.

Hello Peary Family,

Welcome Back to School and our first edition of This Week at Peary!
Our Word of the Week (WOW) is RESPONSIBILITY: Taking credit, or criticism, for your own actions. "Mistakes are always forgivable, if one has the courage to admit them." - Bruce Lee
We are looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow at 7:50 am.
All students and staff should have a daily pass to enter campus tomorrow. Peary staff will be at grade level gates ready to scan student daily passes. 6^th grade students will enter campus on the North side of 162^ndStreet near the Peary Bridge. 7^th Grade students will enter campus on the south side of 162^nd Street near the Peary Gym. 8^th Grade students will enter campus on Gardena Boulevard between the A and B Buildings. Please watch the video description of the entrances on the Peary School Loop Website.
When students enter the campus, they should find their name and 1^st period room number on the scheduling board.
Students will then line up with their 1^st period class until the bell rings for class.
On Monday, school will dismiss at 3:00 pm and students will exit from the same gates they used to enter campus.
On Tuesday, and every Tuesday, school will dismiss at 1:26 pm. School will dismiss at 3:00 pm and students will exit from the same gates they used to enter campus.
